Technology has played a huge role on my journey with my mother.
She has been able to see and talk to her grandkids thousands of miles away on Facetime and Skype. Friends and family have heard the news through email and by phone, often sending warm replies over the internet with pictures from her past.
The piece of technology I am the most grateful for today is my brother, Jordy’s ipod.
It is loaded with months worth of music; a large portion of it from the 50s. When my mother hears the music from her teens she finds the strength to dance with her hands and arms- she smiles, grooves in the beds and probably pictures herself in a light blue poodle skirt killing it on the dance floor-true hand jive!
Music brings her back to us and her to a safe healthy place she may return to some day.
